It takes a talented animator, the right equipment and software and just enough artistic freedom to create a successful animated TV spot.
When Honey Dew Donuts asked Davis Advertising to develop a basketball-themed ad this March to market their delicious Mocha Madness drinks, we knew this was a great opportunity to showcase the talents of our Motion Graphics Designer Imer Diaz.
To start, our creative director wrote voiceover copy designed to evoke the style of a play-by-play announcer. He made sure not to be too precise in his visual descriptions, however, so as to give Imer the artistic freedom he needs to create something unique and fresh.
Using Adobe After Effects and Cinema 4D, Imer took existing pieces—the Honey Dew logo and other branded elements, sprinkled in with a basketball court and other components of the game—and turned them into realistic, three-dimensional pieces. With his animation tools, Imer made sure everything in the spot had the depth and movement of an authentic basketball game.
Thanks to an assist from Imer, Mocha Madness is a slam dunk this month for our client.
