Let’s face it: Everyone finds themselves stressed out from time to time. But we at Davis Advertising have discovered a simple way to instantly improve your mood as well as the moods of those around you.
The secret? Reminiscing on all the good things that have happened.
In the advertising world, deadlines frequently creep up and late nights might ensue, but acknowledging something good that’s happened can do wonders for happiness and stress levels. And that, in turn, can positively impact the quality of your work and ability to get things done.
So what exactly qualifies as a “good thing”? Maybe it was that just-right cup of coffee, or a compliment on your outfit. Perhaps it was finishing a chapter of your book, or receiving a funny text. A long-awaited phone call or a greatly appreciated pay raise. Whether big or small, anything that made you smile or made you feel better qualifies.
To make sure these moments never go unnoticed, Davis employees have been adding to an “All the Good Things” basket for the past couple of years to help us savor each happy moment.
Here’s how it works: When something good happens, we write it on a piece of paper, fold it up and add it to the basket. At the end of the year, we can go back and take a look at All the Good Things that have happened. It’s a great way to reflect on the positive and stay optimistic.
Recently, amid this cold and snowy New England weather, we decided to pick from the basket to help brighten up our days. Here are some of our favorites:
Hearing “a job well done”
Lunch outside on warm days
Good attitudes
Tomorrow is another day
Brownies
Drinks after work with great people
Warm rain
Learning new things
Saying “I love you” when you can
Coffee ice cubes
Good dreams
Won’t you join us in finding happiness in life’s little moments?
